Edenbank Bridge

Location:

Fife

Located on the A92 Kirkcaldy to Dundee section of the trunk road between Freuchie and Ladybank, a historic listed structure comprising of 3 No masonry arch spans over the River Eden. The refurbishment of the bridge to current standards offered improved safety for central Fife trunk road users.

To support the central span arch profile utilising traditional tube and fitting, 1.0m deep beams and soldiers formed from the arch to support foundations.

A key point for the scaffold design team was to consider the likelihood of high-level waters with fast flow rates and reduce the potential for the scaffold structure to be washed away. To mitigate against this risk heavy kentledge blocks and steel sheets were strategically placed, to create a diversional water flow channel away from the scaffold structure.
