Slough Reservoir

We are now in our sixteenth year as the framework contract supplier for SSE in Slough, fully supporting them with all of their scaffolding requirements, including other off-site projects. The images above show our provision of scaffolding as part of their Slough reservoir re-roof project. Built in 1931, the reservoir holds 3.5 million gallons of water and serves the 'Slough Trading Estate.’

The initial requirement involved a large internal birdcage to the east side of the reservoir covering 60m x 20m x 9m. Works began onsite in September 2018 and we deployed a team of fourteen operatives to install the full birdcage scaffold, utilising 1,000m2 of scaffold boards and 240 tonnes of the tube and fitting scaffolding materials. Once the birdcage platform was in-situ, the full dismantling of the existing roof began. This process, including the installation of the new roof, is due to complete in August 2019. Upon completion, we will return to the site to begin the birdcage scaffold removal process.

With the reservoir’s vertical side walls sloped at 45 degrees, the design brief had to overcome this challenge and allow for the progressive widening of the scaffold during the build process. Consideration was also given to the loadings on each standard, as the full scaffold needed to be based along the side walls at 45 degrees. Working closely with our design team we proposed and installed a fully tailored, bespoke and compliant solution.
