Pipework insulation and cladding at SSE combined heat and power plant (CHP) supplying steam and hot water to local businesses including a global food manufacturer on the surrounding Slough trading estate. The Slough Combined Heat and Power Energy from Waste Plant, burns a waste wood derived fuel.
Enigma Industrial Services has provided insulation and Aluzinc cladding to approximately 1,000km of LP Steam Line and Feed Water System pipework at the SSE Slough Heat and Power facility on behalf of Peter J Douglas Engineering. The Phase 1 and 2 LP Steam Line and Feed Water System pipework have been designed and installed to enable SSE – Slough Heat and Power to continue providing Steam to the Slough Trading Estate. Whilst the new build 40 MWe Multifuel Power Station is built adjacent to the existing facility.
Enigma Industrial Services completed the project on time and within budget, whilst the existing plant remained fully operational throughout the works. This enabled the primary contractor to increase staffing levels on-site to meet new deadlines and ever-changing, challenging weather conditions. Due to multiple contractors operating on-site simultaneously, communication and planning were paramount to complete this project with no LTI’s (lost time injuries) occurring.
