We are looking to recruit a Scaffolding Contracts Supervisor to work within our Access team based at the Newcastle depot. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing contracts and liaising with site managers; agreeing programme of work schedules and ensuring budget control and the efficient management of labour. As a Contracts Supervisor, you will be required to be self-driven with previous experience in supervising on high profile and complex scaffolding projects. The ability to successfully manage staff, programmes of work, method statements and risk assessments will be essential to this role as well as being able to communicate with clients and management at all levels. The role will include the following: • Being responsible with project Method Statements & Risk Assessments. • Dealing with Health & Safety on site and working with the Health and Safety Manager to ensure Health & Safety standards are met and maintained and in conducting investigations. • Conducting site staff inductions and tool box talks, completing timesheets and arranging appropriate staffing cover on projects. • Running projects from handover to completion, you will oversee multiple projects and assist with erecting and dismantling scaffolding as and when required. • Establishing and maintaining excellent working relationships with clients. • Managing systems to facilitate the successful delivery of projects including project planning mechanisms, monitoring and evaluation systems, quality assurance systems and contract management systems. • Ensuring that projects run to schedule and budget. • Achieving set business targets as set by the General Manager. You will ensure programmes of work are managed and find solutions to problems that may cause delays, such as the late arrival of materials / equipment etc, whilst maintaining strict quality control procedures and safety compliance on all projects and works. To be successful in this role you must be a positive ambassador of Enigma’s core values Insight, Innovation, Inclusivity, Investment and Integrity. By demonstrating our ethos and governance to ensure these are adhered to by all staff within the company. You will need to be a good communicator and will need to liaise with other departments such as Health and Safety, Quality and HR as and when required. Experience: Candidates must have previous Scaffolding experience, SSSTS, a valid CISRS card and a full clean driving license. We’re looking for an experienced QSHE & Energy Business Partner to report directly to the QSHE & Energy Director and co-ordinate, support and advise the business on all aspects with regards to Quality, Safety, Health & Environment (QSHE) & Energy. The successful candidate will establish, manage, and monitor standards, processes, communications, training, and systems to ensure all responsibilities associated with QSHE & Energy within Enigma-IS are adhered to. Ideally, you will be based in Midland’s area with regular travel required to visit Enigma Depots and our clients’ sites throughout the regions.

Main Duties and Responsibilities / Key Results Areas:

 

QA (Quality Assurance)

·  Provide guidance, assistance, and personal support to personnel on QA related topics.

·  Co-ordinate the preparation and implementation of the QSHE Integrated Management System, supporting operations with the preparation documents and records.

·  Support with the monitoring and implementation of Quality Plans and Quality Control Plans for products and projects (as required).

·  Co-ordinate and complete QA training (process related).

·  Implement QSHE Internal Audit Programme and Supplier Audit Programmes.

·  Actively participate in audits, collate findings, and compile QA audit reports.

·  Register, action and close-out NCRs and CARs that are project-related.

·  Analysis and preparation of QSHE performance & input to quality improvement initiatives.

·  To inspect built Scaffolding erections at height.

SHE (Safety, Health, Environmental & Energy) Business Partnering

·  Guidance, assistance and support to employees on SHE related topics.

·  Prepare and implement QSHE Integrated Management System support documents and records.

·  Cooperation and advice in the monitoring and implementation of QSHE Contract Management plans.

·  Support and advice in the monitoring and implementation of QSHE Plans and QSHE Interface Documents for general projects.

·  General QSHE training.

·  QSHE Audit Programmes for the business.

·  Safety audits collate findings and compile QSHE audit reports.

·  Monthly statistical information on QSHE performance and maintain QSHE records.

·  Business reports following QSHE Site Inspections / Safety Tours.

·  Analysis of QSHE performance & input to quality improvement initiatives.

·  Provide support for QSHE training activities and update assigned Course Training Packages (CTPs).

·  Professional management of company accident/incident reporting process, support to incident investigations & reporting and liaising with insurers on claims reports utilising the Incident Management Systems.

·  KPI data including Targets & Objectives information for input into monthly & annual reports.

Person Specification.

·  Able to effectively business partner and act as a trusted expert advisor to senior operational stakeholder.

·  Good analytical/problem-solving skills.

·  Strong interpersonal/influencing skills.

·  Able to plan, control and balance competing priorities.

·  Good time manager and able to consistently meet deadlines.

·  Extensive UK travel and nights away from home is required.

·  NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent essential

·  At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role.

•  Excellent written and oral communication skills with a High level of IT skills - MS Office.

• Excellent working knowledge of Health, Safety & Environmental Law (Legal requirements and ACoPs.

Enigma is a leading provider of access and industrial services and are currently recruiting for scaffolding apprenticeship roles to support our client’s new-build housing and construction sites throughout Newcastle and the North-East region. Successful candidates will join our established teams working on these sites and report to our Newcastle depot. Ideally, before applying for the apprenticeship roles, you will have the following, but not essential:
  • Previous construction experience is advantageous, or any physical outdoor role/experience.
  • A valid CSCS card is advantageous (Or having completed a Health & Safety Test within the last 2 years).
Please note: The minimum age to apply is 16. However, due to the job being site work, applicants must compete a young person at work risk assessment and are required to work under full supervision from a charge hand or supervisor. On-site you'll begin by loading out scaffolding materials and you will be taught manual handling, health and safety rules, and basic scaffolding knowledge, including correctly identifying equipment. Additionally, you will undertake manual handling and COTS (CISRS Operative Training Scheme) training whilst working in our yards. As your confidence and knowledge improve, you will be given more responsibilities, to continually develop and learn the skills necessary to become a qualified Scaffolder. All our Apprentice Scaffolders attend college which is arranged after you have passed your probationary period. To gain your qualification to become a qualified Scaffolder the training normally takes up to 2-years, or more dependent on the qualifications needed. During training, you will attend a Construction Training Centre to carry out your Part 1 and Part 2 qualifications and then again to complete your final assessment before gaining your qualification. It’s important to remember before applying for this role, that you understand being a scaffolder is a physically demanding job which must be done in all weather conditions.
