Are you NOT fazed by the thought of working at height and enjoy being outdoors? Would you like a physical job where you can earn, gain new skills/qualifications, and learn a professional trade.

Enigma is a leading provider of access and industrial services and are currently recruiting for scaffolding apprenticeship roles to support our client’s new-build housing and construction sites throughout Newcastle and the North-East region. Successful candidates will join our established teams working on these sites and report to our Newcastle depot.

Ideally, before applying for the apprenticeship roles, you will have the following, but not essential:

  • Previous construction experience is advantageous, or any physical outdoor role/experience.
  • A valid CSCS card is advantageous (Or having completed a Health & Safety Test within the last 2 years).

Please note: The minimum age to apply is 16. However, due to the job being site work, applicants must compete a young person at work risk assessment and are required to work under full supervision from a charge hand or supervisor.

On-site you’ll begin by loading out scaffolding materials and you will be taught manual handling, health and safety rules, and basic scaffolding knowledge, including correctly identifying equipment. Additionally, you will undertake manual handling and COTS (CISRS Operative Training Scheme) training whilst working in our yards. As your confidence and knowledge improve, you will be given more responsibilities, to continually develop and learn the skills necessary to become a qualified Scaffolder.

All our Apprentice Scaffolders attend college which is arranged after you have passed your probationary period. To gain your qualification to become a qualified Scaffolder the training normally takes up to 2-years, or more dependent on the qualifications needed. During training, you will attend a Construction Training Centre to carry out your Part 1 and Part 2 qualifications and then again to complete your final assessment before gaining your qualification.

It’s important to remember before applying for this role, that you understand being a scaffolder is a physically demanding job which must be done in all weather conditions. We’re looking for people who work well in a team and have a positive and respectful attitude come rain or shine!

Reach new heights with a rewarding career in Scaffolding at Enigma by gaining practical on-the-job skills and professional scaffolding qualifications with industry-leading structured training courses. Join an accredited safety-first organisation, Enigma is a founder member of the NASC National Access & Scaffolding Confederation.
