Enigma Industrial Service Ltd Sustainabilities Plan.

Enigma Industrial Service Ltd Sustainabilities Plan 2022 provides the company with an overview of the current ISO14001 Environmental and ISO50001 Energy management goals and future Sustainabilities initiatives and projects. Five long-term goals to strive toward, and recommended strategies to begin to achieve those goals. Enigma Industrial Service Ltd Sustainabilities Plan will help achieve the company sustainabilities objectives by creating an actionable road map that prioritises projects, timelines, gaps in data needed to deliver sustainabilities metrics to meet goals, and key factors such as departments that will be involved in next steps to bring the strategies to realisation.

Strategic Areas of Focus

Sustainability Principles Strategy 2022-2030 identifies a several challenges to the continuation of business as usual within Enigma Industrial Services and will present a way of changing the overall risk profile of the company through mitigating, minimising and designing-out potential flaws likely to act as obstacles to business success over the long term. Sustainability Principles Strategy 2022-2030 identifies five pillars:
Enable leadership to positively promote sustainability and community engagement.
Offsetting net carbon emissions and having beneficial biodiversity impacts.
Minimise and actively manage waste through elimination, reduction, reuse, and recycling.
Develop formal and information collaborative partnerships with Sustainability Champions.
Positively influence the sustainability performance of suppliers and the sustainability credentials of the goods and services that we purchase.

We are committed to fulfilling our social responsibility, encouraging sustainable economic development while improving the quality of life of our employees and contractors as well as contributing to the communities we work in.

Sustainabilities Champions

Enigma Industrial Services 18 Sustainabilities Champions are the conduits between the strategy and operational locations and actively support their location in meeting the Enigma Industrial Services objectives. The Sustainabilities Champions contribute ideas, suggestions, and initiatives for improving the sustainabilities performance in their areas to the Sustainabilities Leads and will ‘lead by example’ in encouraging employees in ensuring that wider Enigma Industrial Services community contributes towards reducing our environmental / energy impacts. A role description has been developed with all Champions.

We recognise that the health and wellbeing of all our employees is critical to the long-term success of our business; and given the challenging environments in which we work, it’s simply the right thing to do, including offering when required the following:

Sustainable Development

The current state of climate emergency has led the UK government to implement a new law which will require the UK to bring all greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2050. We are committed to making environmentally conscious changes to our business now to help alleviate the threat of climate change in the future.

Waste

We implement the Waste Hierarchy (reduce, reuse, recycle, recover & landfill) to ensure effective and mindful waste disposal routes are selected. Where practicable, we implement Closed Loop Recycling (CLR) process utilising resources and materials efficiently, designing out waste and keeping products and materials in use to reduce our demand on new limited raw resources. Sustainable Waste Management training has been provided to all fixed sites.

Communication, Consultation and Participation

Enigma Industrial Services utilise the National Access & Scaffolding Confederation (NASC) Toolbox and Enigma Industrial Services Toolbox suites, which both contain topics covering trade specific, quality, safety, health, environment, and energy. However, to ensure the workforce understand Enigma Industrial Services Sustainabilities programmed, bespoke toolbox talks have been produced and include:

  • Energy & Carbon Management.
  • Material handling and housekeeping.
  • Ensuring use of legal and sustainable timber.
  • Be a good neighbour Nuisance.
  • Dust and air quality.
  • Noise and vibration.
  • Fuel and oil.
  • Spill control.
  • Segregation of waste.
  • Storage of waste.
  • Waste hierarchy.
  • Office waste segregation.

Successes Include:

  • In partnership with DWP during 2021/22, we ran our own government Kickstart Scheme, and created 38 new job placements for 16- to 24-year-olds who are on Universal Credit and at risk of long-term unemployment. At the end of the program seven outstanding people were offered fulltime positions with Enigma-IS.

  • We have created 72 new job placements for apprenticeships across a range of trade and professional disciplines, with a 2022 goal to be at 100 by the end of 2022.

  • Support local charities for example raised and donated £20,000.00 to Combat Stress on completion of a Lands End to John O’Groats charity ride.

  • Enigma-IS are proud to have been awarded the Military Covenant in recognition of the work we do with the Military and the ex-military recruitment services.

  • We continue to support careers fairs working with our clients around the UK, NASAC, BFRSS and others, seeing over 2500 people at our events.

  • We have begun working with the prison services to enable ex-offenders to be re-trained under their ‘Returning Citizens’ program.

  • We also support a number of local community sports teams.
